Two Unbeatens Hit the Road, Four Winless Teams Look for Answers

After Shaw and Spencer both won on Thursday, the rest of the Tri-City slate plays tonight. Russell County and Glenwood carry perfect records into the night, Central-Phenix City and Pacelli try to build on recent wins, and four still-winless teams — Brookstone, Jordan, Sumter County and Smiths Station — are all in action looking for their first W of 2026.

GAMES OF FRIDAY, SEPT. 11, 2026 · SCORES/RECORDS VIA MAXPREPS, CROSS-CHECKED WHERE NOTED

Kendrick, Calvary Christian and Hardaway are all on byes this week. Shaw (3-1), Columbus (2-2), and Spencer (2-2) already played their games Thursday night — see our separate Thursday recap. Everything below is tonight's action.

GAMES TO WATCH
7:00 PM CT
KICKOFF
Russell County @ Wetumpka
Russell County enters 3-0, 1-0 region
Russell County has been the area's most dominant team through three weeks, outscoring opponents 134-44. Tonight's region opener at Wetumpka is the first real measuring stick for a Warriors team that hasn't been seriously tested yet.
8:00 PM CT
KICKOFF
Central-Phenix City @ Opelika
Central enters 2-1, 1-0 region
Central dropped its opener to Thompson 14-41 but has rattled off two straight region-eligible wins since (54-3 over Pell City, 49-0 over JAG) to enter tonight unbeaten in region play. Opelika on the road is a real test of whether that turnaround is for real.
7:00 PM
KICKOFF
Glenwood vs. St. Paul's Episcopal
Glenwood enters 3-0, 1-0 region
Glenwood is the area's other unbeaten, having outscored its first three opponents by a combined 88 points — including a 49-19 win over Brookstone, who plays tonight still looking for its first win. St. Paul's Episcopal comes in from Mobile for Glenwood's home region game.
7:30 PM
KICKOFF
Mount Vernon @ Pacelli
Pacelli 2-1 hosts unbeaten Mount Vernon (2-0)
Pacelli has won back-to-back since an opening loss to Stratford Academy, most recently a 21-19 squeaker over Dadeville. Mount Vernon arrives from Atlanta unbeaten, including a 34-28 overtime win, in one of the more evenly-matched games on tonight's board.
7:30 PM
KICKOFF
Central (Macon) @ Brookstone
Brookstone 0-4 hosts Central (2-0)
Brookstone reached last year's GIAA 4A finals but is winless through four games this season, most recently shut out 38-0 by Stratford Academy. Central of Macon — a different "Central" than the Phenix City team playing Opelika tonight — is chasing its first 3-0 start since 2016.
7:00 PM
KICKOFF
Chattahoochee County @ Jordan
Chattahoochee County 2-0 at winless Jordan (0-3)
Jordan is 0-3 and has been outscored 106-15 through three games — shut out in its first two (0-44 vs. Columbus, 0-42 at Central-Macon) before scoring 15 in a 15-20 loss at Terrell County. A heavy underdog at home tonight against an unbeaten Chattahoochee County team that's outlasted Terrell County and Pelham so far.

A note on the numbers: Records and kickoff times above are pulled from each team's MaxPreps schedule page as of this write-up. Central-Phenix City, Central (Macon), and Central-Talbotton are three separate schools — Brookstone's opponent tonight is the Macon school, not the Phenix City team playing Opelika. Early County's and JAG's own records weren't independently confirmed and are left out rather than guessed.
